- participative presentations from major manufacturers on machine designs and components such as tubs, booms, lubrication and gear systems.
- influenced the upgrading of manufacturer organizations in the areas of service, erection, parts of supply and engineering design change notification.
- had special presentations made by acknowledged experts on rails and rollers, wire ropes, cold weather operations, lubrication and gear systems.
- discussed at the regular quarterly meetings problems and solutions associated with booms, tubs, propel systems, gears, rails and rollers, rotating frame and other components.
- on-site tours of mine and machines in various mines to observe the operation, maintenance and erection of new and existing equipment.
- provided an educational forum for particular problem discussions and information exchange between members.
- assembled and maintains an up-to-date listing of "other than OEM" parts suppliers.
- assembled a directory of mining equipment by type, manufacturer, model, owner, and the contact person at the mine location.
- maintained an informal parts pool among the membership.
